Menopause and Me - a Health Coaches Real-Life Journey - Part 1.

Menopause and Me - A health coaches’ real-life journey -

Part 1.

Hello friends!

As a health coach, I've always prided myself on having the answers. But lately, I've found myself in uncharted territory – the wild and wonderful world of perimenopause. And let me tell you, it's been quite the ride! Such a ride that I am currently taking a menopause certification course so I can figure out my body! It has become abundantly obvious to me as of late that women need to be equipped with the right information and I want to be a better coach for my clients and what better way than to add a another specialized certification to my education.

Today, I'm excited to introduce a new blog series: "Menopause and Me: A Health Coach's Real-Life Journey." In this series, I'll be sharing my personal experiences, struggles, and triumphs as I navigate this transformative phase of life. And yes, that includes the good, the bad, and the sweaty!

So you may be asking why this series?

  • 1. Authenticity: As health professionals, we often feel pressure to have it all together. But the truth is, we're human too. By sharing my journey, I hope to break down barriers and show that it's okay to struggle sometimes.

  • 2. Education: While every woman's experience is unique, there's power in shared knowledge. I'll be diving into the latest research and strategies for managing menopause symptoms.

  • 3. Community: You're not alone in this journey. I hope this series will spark conversations and create a supportive community where we can share, learn, and grow together.

What to Expect

In the coming weeks, I'll be tackling topics like:

- Stress management techniques for the perimenopausal brain

- Cooling strategies for those infamous hot flashes

- Sleep hygiene tips for restless nights

- Adapting exercise routines (including how I'm staying active despite plantar fasciitis)

- Nutrition for hormonal balance

- Mental health and emotional wellbeing during menopause

A Sneak Peek into My Current Challenges

To kick things off, here's a glimpse into what I'm currently dealing with:

1. .Stress Overload and Anxiety: Between work, family, and these new bodily changes, my stress levels have been through the roof. Add to that a newfound sense of anxiety, and it's been quite the emotional rollercoaster. I'll be sharing some techniques I'm exploring to find my zen and calm my racing thoughts

2. The Great Cooldown: Hot flashes have become my unwelcome companion. I'm on a mission to find the best cooling strategies and will report back!

3. Sleep Struggles: Quality sleep has become elusive. I'm diving into sleep hygiene practices and will share what works (and what doesn't).

4. Plantar Fasciitis Curveball: Just when I thought I had enough on my plate, plantar fasciitis decided to join the party. I'll be documenting my journey to stay active while nursing this pesky foot condition.

5. The Weighty Issue: Despite my best efforts, the scale has been creeping up. I'll be exploring the connection between menopause and weight gain, and sharing strategies to maintain a healthy weight without losing our minds (or joy) in the process.

Remember, ladies, menopause is not just an ending – it's a beginning. It's a chance to reconnect with ourselves, redefine our health, and embrace a new chapter of life. So, let's embark on this journey together – with honesty, humor, and a whole lot of grace.

Stay tuned for our first deep-dive next week, where we'll be tackling stress management head-on. Until then, be kind to yourselves, and remember – you've got this!
